Jean-Luc Mélenchon presented La France insoumise’s programme for France’s 2027 presidential election on Saturday, setting out proposals to raise the minimum wage, cap prices for essential foods and lower the retirement age to 60 for people who meet a contribution requirement.
The platform proposes a net monthly minimum wage of €1,700. It also calls for price limits on essential food products, according to Reuters.
The retirement proposal is not described as applying automatically to everyone. Le Monde reported that it would apply to people who have contributed for 40 years.
The programme, titled L’Avenir en commun, was published on Friday, November 6, ahead of its public presentation the following day. The proposals form part of Mélenchon’s campaign offer for the 2027 vote; they have not been announced as adopted government policy.
The launch sets out the main economic measures highlighted by the party: a higher wage floor, controls on staple food prices and a return to retirement at 60 under the stated contribution condition. Mélenchon is a veteran leader of La France insoumise, the party presenting the programme.
