President Donald Trump said on Saturday, November 7, that he had offered UFC chief Dana White the job of White House press secretary. White said he was travelling to Washington and planned to meet Trump on Monday, but did not say whether he would accept.
Trump announced the offer in a post on Truth Social, calling White a potential press secretary “like none other” and urging him to take the role. The Associated Press also reported that White planned to meet Trump.
Speaking to reporters in London on Saturday evening, White said he was flying to Washington “right now.” He added that he expected they would have more to discuss after the meeting and noted that he already had “a lot of jobs.”
White had also posted an image to his Instagram story showing him behind a White House press briefing lectern, with the caption “On to the next chapter.”
The press secretary position became vacant after Katie Zacharia left the job less than five days after taking it. Her predecessor, Karoline Leavitt, said in August that she was stepping down to focus on her family. Trump described Leavitt as one of his most trusted aides and said she would continue as an outside adviser.
Trump and White have maintained a close relationship. Trump has regularly attended UFC events, while White has spoken at several of the president’s rallies, including an event on the eve of Trump’s inauguration in January 2025.
