Heidi Klum made her 2026 Halloween party entrance in New York inside a giant, bloody replica of her own left hand. The costume reproduced personal details, including her engagement ring, wedding ring and a tattoo bearing her husband Tom Kaulitz’s name.
The oversized hand was created using body scans, according to Vogue. Klum told the Associated Press that she came up with the idea the year before, after looking at her hand and wondering whether she could fit her body inside a larger version.
A costume built around personal details
Special-effects makeup artist Mike Marino handled the transformation. Marino has worked on several of Klum’s elaborate Halloween looks, including the creations that have helped make her annual party a fixture on the holiday calendar.
This year’s design turned a familiar part of Klum’s appearance into the costume itself. The rings and tattoo were incorporated into the replica, making the enlarged hand identifiable as hers rather than a generic prop.
Klum said she had hoped Kaulitz would join the look. He was away in Germany for a concert, she told Bunte magazine. “Of course I would have loved to hold hands with Tom,” she said. “But you can’t be in two places at once.”
Leni Klum and celebrity guests join the party
Klum’s daughter, Leni, attended as Miss Piggy. Her outfit included pig ears, oversized eyelashes and a purple feather boa.
Actors Kyle MacLachlan and Neil Patrick Harris were also among the guests. Harris arrived with his husband, David Burtka, and the pair appeared as a creepy twin team.
The party was preceded by a gathering at Klum’s pizzeria in the Soho neighbourhood of New York. She wore an orange dress and black boots there, without the giant hand costume.
Klum’s Halloween looks span years
Klum has used the annual event to present elaborate costumes, sometimes coordinating her look with Kaulitz’s. Past pairings included Klum as a peacock with Kaulitz as an egg, and Klum as a giant worm with him dressed as a fisherman. For another Halloween, she appeared as Medusa while Kaulitz took the role of a petrified figure.
Her previous transformations have also included E.T. and Fiona from the animated film Shrek. The 2026 hand costume continued that run with a design based on Klum herself, rather than a character or animal.
